ARTES – Art, Technology and Society – Association

Asociación ARte, TEcnología y Sociedad – ARTES is an NGO devoted to Research and Development in the field of Cultural services and activities, including Heritage and Arts. ARTES was founded in 2011 and in this last decade, it has gathered a series of researchers in dissemination and promotion of all types of cultural activities and services. In the last years, ARTES has integrated some researchers in the area of Economics and, specifically, in the area of creative economy.

At this point, ARTES has gathered a series of professionals coming from the Arts, Economics, IT and communication arena such as journalists, designers, economists, artists and marketing profesionals. Back in the first five years, ARTES focused in the promotion and enhancement of cultural heritage through artistic and dissemination activities. In the last years, the association has moved on to research on economy of the arts, online positioning and marketing of cultural goods. ARTES has been the organizer of different artistic events, like Granada International Biennale Contemporary Art and Heritage. ARTES has been also involved in Heritage R&D projects such as Estrategias de Comunicación del patrimonio a través del arte contemporáneo y el diseño (Heritage communication Strategies through Contemporary Art and Design). The outcomes of this project have been published in the publication “Entre Granada y Tetuán. Artesanía, diseño y arte contemporáneo” (Between Granada and Tetuan: Handcrafts, Design and Contemporay Art).

In 2013, ARTES was the organizer and sponsor of the third biennial conference Paradox. Fine Arts European Forum, which gathered 150 Fine Arts teachers, researchers and artists from more than 14 countries in Granada. Paradox Fine Arts European Forum is part of ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts).

Since 2017, ARTES is partner in the H2020 MSCA RISE 2017 project # 777981 WARMEST ( loW Altitude Remote sensing for the Monitoring of the state of cultural hEritage Sites: building an inTegrated model for maintenance).

ARTES has also been deeply involved in the European Handcrafts.
