Industrial System Institute (ISI - Athena)
ATHENA – Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies is a Greek Research Centre operating under the supervision of the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development and Investments.
The mission of ATHENA Research Centre is to combine Research and Development of Core Technologies in ICT, creating a fertile technological innovation system. Values in research include high quality (novelty and depth in solving hard problems, well cited research output), high impact (solving critical problems for industry / society, bringing results to the final stage of robustness / usability), interdisciplinarity: ICT at the core of synergies with other sciences (linguistics, lexicography, archaeology, culture, transportation, industry, manufacturing, energy, climatology, environment, biodiversity, earth sciences, space sciences, biology, medicine).
The Industrial Systems Institute represents one of the three research institutes of the ATHENA Research Center with an institutional role in increasing the competitiveness of the Greek industry. Focus of ISI has been on edge technologies for industrial operations / enterprise environments. It seeks excellence in the following fields: real time and networked embedded systems, intelligent systems and robotics, enterprise information systems, manufacturing systems – processes and enterprise interoperability, security and protection of industrial systems networks and infrastructures, advanced material and structures. Its research results pertain a number of application areas including the manufacturing environment, critical infrastructures, smart buildings, smart health, smart energy, smart cities, applications for culture / tourism.

Master degree in Tourism, Territory and Local Development
Bachelor degree in Science of Tourism and Local Communities
University of Milano-Bicocca.
Alexis Andritsos holds a Master degree in Tourism, Territory and Local Development and a Bachelor degree in Science of Tourism and Local Communities, both from the University of Milano-Bicocca.
His master’s thesis subject was about Tourism and Security while his bachelor’s thesis was about the Effects of the Financial Crisis in the Greek Tourism. During a traineeship in the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, in Ispra, Italy, he worked on a project on Water Management and Climate Change Adaptation in European Island Communities, where he was responsible for two case studies on two Greek islands, mapping the social actors and collecting their opinion and thoughts about water management on these islands and on how water management could become economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.
On top of his native Greek and Italian languages, Alexis also speaks fluently English and French. Since June 2021, Alexis Andritsos is with the Industrial Systems Institute of the Athena Research and Innovation Center.
